Rick Monk

Rick advises AFT’s Board, senior management and other staff in legal matters. He previously represented AFT as outside general counsel with Kalbian Hagerty, LLP, where his clients included individuals and entities with interests in agriculture, conservation, renewable energy, and ecosystem services. Before that, Rick was managing attorney at a nonprofit organization providing community legal services, an attorney at a firm providing “in-house” general counsel services to small businesses, and an associate with a nationally prominent law firm. Rick comes from a family heavily involved in agriculture, including his grandfather who is an active SWCD member and owns a family farm in Texas. He completed his undergraduate work at Emory University and holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston.
